I've only had this resently, when i don't start the car for a couple of days the oil light dosn't come on when i turn to ignition, however when i start it the oil light comes on then goes off. But other times i'll start it and drive for about 5km then turn off and then go to iginition the light comes of for pressure. Is this possiably a faulty pressure sender? Or do i have oil pressure holding problems? Also i feel it's safe to start it up when the light doesn't come on at iginition cause when it's started it doesn't come on to show no/low oil pressure.

No one can answer your questions on the information supplied. You will have to have the oil pressure tested and change the oil pressure sender anyway.

could possibly be bad wiring maybe, the oil presure light should always be on with the key in the on position before you start the car

Yeah, that sounds right. When I turn the ignition on, the oil light is lit, and then it goes out within the first crank or so, before the engine even fires. Interestingly enough, the brake failure light doesn't come on when the ignition is turned on, but it does come on during the cranking stage.....

Anyone know why this is the case?

Maybe its because the brake failure light is very critical...if you look at the wiring diagram, the 'warning light check relay' is wired so that it simulates a brake failure when the 'start relay' is actuated and the engine is cranking....doesn't give a reason though.

Dont want to ask stupid questions, but its not something as simple as low oil? You have checked the oil level havent you?

Oil pressure switches do fail (could be sticking) and are less than $20 to replace. You could also check the old switch for continuity when the engine is switched off - its easily accessible on the V6.
