Hey guys how r we all? I have noticed an increasingly annoying sound which seems to be coming from the double heater vent in the middle. At first it sounded sort of like water swishing from side to side but it seems when i accelerate in a straight line aswell. It does it for abut a second or to each time I accelerate, sounds kinda like water bubbling or something. Have'nt had any engine temp problems and the heater works fine but my aircon needs regassing so that is'nt working at the moment. Also have'nt any coolant on carpet, foggy window or anything like that (re: heater core). Need to try and figure out exactly what it is so I can work out what i need to do to fix. Any ideas????? Thanks in advance.
Thanks man i'll try that. My aircon has needed re gassing for like over year scince last summer but i havent got around to doing it. I have also noticed, mainly in the morning when i first start her up, that the air con pulley seems to be making an intermitant noise like the pulley bearings are going. Would running the aircon (i mean the aircon pulley with the belt) without the system being gassed have stuffed it? and not sure wether or not the pulley sound is related to the sound i am getting in the heater vents. I will try bleeding system and see what happens. Maybe I should get a belt that bypasses the air con till i sort it out? Thanks for the suggestion.
Turning the aircon on without gas in the system cannot harm the compressor as there is a low pressure switch to prevent it being turned on unless its gassed so you cannot do any harm. When you bleed the air out of cooling system have your heater on.
Hey hust a quick one.....where the **** is the bleed valve???? Cant find it spent like twenty minutes looking, nothing in the manual, I can find and posts on here but none of them show a pic or desrcibe where it is located. Cheers
Your car is a V6 VS? it should be that brass screw ontop of the thermostat housing, get a 10mm socket and a ratchet, take the engine cover off and it is right up the front. Just follow the top radiator hose there is an awsome thread in the HOWTO section on bleeding a coolant system, might be on page 2 or 3
Thanks hako but what i ment was not is it ok to run aircon but will continually rotating the pulley with the v belt while air con is not working stuff the bearings in the air con pulley as it has started to make a kind of intermitant grinding sound, like the bearing in there is going. It only really does it when its first started up then the noise goes away after she is at operating temp (5 mins or so) The noise coming from the heater vents seems to have been resolved by bleeding the cooling system, must have been air in there, cheers xcopV-8
