Hi there,

We have a VR Calais and ever since we bought the car we have had a suction type noise from behind the centre air vent in the top of the dash. The noise only occurs when we turn the air con on.....as soon as we turn it off...it goes away.....

Has anyone had this sort of problem before and if so how is it fixed?

Oh and the aircon doesnt work by the way.....

......cheers

Check the plug that goes onto the cluster which has ur air selection on it. At the top of the cluster there is a plug with about 7 air lines on it. Make sure that hasnt come off?

When u sit in the drivers seat, u will noitce an area of in the middle of the lower dash. It houses such items as stereo, blinking red light, small shelf under stereo. To the right of the stereo there is a cluster which has knobs most likely for, Air temp, fan speed and air direction....

Pull that out and have a look at the top of the cluster, there are about 6 clear air lines which plug onto the back of that cluster.

I think I know the one you are talking about.....but this is a calais and has climate control which only has a single black plastic tube and two other black plugs which connect onto the back of the control panel....

Thanx for the advice anyway.......cheers

Yes I have and it doesnt make any difference.......when i turn the aircon on it sounds like something is leaking in behind the centre air vent......(cant think of any other way to describe it).

As soon as I turn the aircon off it stops making the noise......

Thanx to all for the replies......cheers

Could be the air con pressurising? Trying to compensate for a leak
