This is a pic of the stick after sitting over night....
Might be a silly question but I have to ask, are you checking the level with the engine running while in park?
no question is silly, that being said this is not running and sitting over night,i thought you can read as cold as the stick sais, but i know you can read it running as well?school me if i am wrong here.
You need to check it while the engine is running and normally cycle through the gears a couple of times. The level will drop on the stick with it running.
ok,i`ll go do that now,why is there a cold option though?
the cold option is checking it before it gets driven but still with the engine running.
ok,as you see on the pic previously, after going for a drive the reading when hot is right before the D on deep.So it dropped a bit but still over if its meant to be in the crossed lines area.
ok,so i am draining out fluid with the hose/water bottle trick, and as soon as i got it down to nearly right the front area of the engine/pulley area started tapping/metal noise, and it aint going away.!#!$%.
I usually just undo the return line from the radiator and drain it from there.
How did u go is it now on the hot line?
Looks like its over by 1L or more.
Bang on guess there!...it is just over atm as i had the harmonic balancer go on me during the drain. But it is going to be about 1L 200 ish i think.
So was that the noise.
i dont know if that was the whine, yet to get new HB,and we`ll see then i guess.
If your doing it make sure to follow the correct procedure, don't be like a wholly who never lined up his keyway and broke it off and cracking his timing gear by torqueing up the bolt not lined up, u should be able to located the key way by pushing it on by hand, a little grease on the oil seal too. Good luck.
transmission level must be checked with the engine running and warm (20K drive). Should then be at the hot level.
