Hey i got a VS Acclaim '97. Its got doors that "clunk" around when im driving. Got any idea of what could be causing it. Could it be the door latch? Anyone know how to replace it if it is??

The sound is like the door isnt locked in properly

Sounds like the door seals have shrunk with age - first thing I'd try is to move the striker in a few mm. Make sure you first mark the original position with a pencil mark around the striker.

hey rcnugget, regulator is the correct term for the power windo motor yeah? if so that may be exactly what that noise in my rear passenger door is.

I think greenfoam posted about this awhile ago, I think the door pins get loose and when you go round a turn of some sort they go forward or back and make a tingin sound cos they arent 100% in place or something seems to happen with alot of older cars.

If your refering to something else dunno but that noise seems to happen on every car least 10 years old

If you open the door from the drivers seat it will be near your right elbow on the door pillar - its the part that the door grabs onto to keep the door shut and looks like a oval disc about 50mm dia with a bent piece of steel sticking out. (rotten description!). Anyway, run a pencil line around it (so you can return it to its original position) and then loosen the bolts with a star or allen key and move the striker plate in towards the seat maybe a mm or two. This will make the door tension up against the door rubbers.

have you tried using leverage with that allen key??

they are really really tight, try using vice grips on the end of the allen key to give a bit of leverage.
