oooh the fiddling is the best bit
Haha yeah man, George Pelloux and Gary Glitter stylee!
Yeah I have 2015+ LS3 tune will send mate.
I am stuck with 5w30 while the car is under warranty...
Otherwise i would try HPR5 which is 5w40

Penrith supply a GM Warraty approved 5w40. I use it. No noises.
It's with them as we speak. They will call this arvo
Penrite. Bloody auto txt.

Can confirm, as many have done already, that Penrite 10 tenths racing 5w-30 does indeed quieten general engine noise and seems to muffle exhaust note slightly. Idles a bees d**k smoother aswell. Changed oil yesterday. Very impressed.
I don't think the oil visc will cause any warranty issues, your car your prerogative!
I ran my10 VE Cal V for 7 years on 10-60 full synth & while everyone reckoned their AFM L76 were noisy mine was fine, sold it a few months ago & the buyer is as happy as pig in ****!
I bet you have a bung lifter mate.
Holden was really attentive with this one. They did cold start drive test, compared it to other LS3, spoke to me twice and listened to my video.
They concluded nothing was wrong with it. Some noise is normal at cold start and mine does not sound concerning taking everything into account. They said drivetrain noise happens because oil takes a bit to properly flow around the engine and it's big bore alloy engine that makes more noise than ordinary smaller engines.
They suggested warming up the car for couple minutes before driving on very cold mornings.
They said to bring it back if it gets worse etc.
I will take their advice and it is now documented on their system...
As mentioned elsewhere they replaced rocker cover gasket and everything was covered under warranty.
I call BS from the dealer. Get it checked at a real mechanic who can write down the faults to be fixed.
You don't have to take it to a dealer to tell you its f@*$*d
This was the second dealer that did not find it concerning. I frankly now dont give a **** as it is now recorded and car still has more than 4 yrs of factory warranty...
True, but for peace of mind get it checked properly. If your in Sydney, try NAS automotive in Thornleigh. He does Walkinshaw installs (don't hold that against him lol) He is SO honest, you swear he is your dad. Seriously never met a more honest and capable mechanic/engine builder/tuner EVER. End of rant
Mate, did NAS do the mods on your car ?
Just serviced so far. But he will be doing my W407 kit
Glad that it got fixed, it is "reassuring" to know the cold start "clattering" is "normal"...I shall ask my dealer if any other Canberra V8 owners have expressed their concerns on the matter as we have been experiencing a long spell of sub zero mornings. Perhaps they all keep their cars in their garages overnight.
