Hi Guys I bought a Oct 04 VZ Acclaim sedan a few weeks ago and have noticed what may be a problem, but im not sure having never owned a car as good as this before. When it is dry the car drives fine, but when it is wet and you go around corners or roundabouts it is sometimes all over the place. Please don't yell at me that it needs good tyres I am sure it does, but this isn't really the problem. When I am taking off from a standstill or turning out of a street slowly in the wet, when it is probably about to slide out, I get a really loud grinding type noise from the front right hand wheel. It is so loud and bad it really scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. Is the stability control supposed to make this noise when it is forced to work or could it be suspension related or do I have another problem I need to get checked out? I figure it is the stability control, as I tried the same corner with the ESP turned off and I didn't get the noise. The car span 180 degrees, but I didn't get the noise :surprise: Yes I am looking into good tyres :idea3: Now I don't know if it is connected or not, but I have also noticed that in some carparks, when I go over speed humps - no matter how slowly or how many people in the car - there is a scraping noise from the RH front area, like the car is bottoming out on the hump. but not on the LH side. The car is not lowered at all. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Grateful for any ideas. Thanks
strangely enough I am aware of this. I have been driving for over 30 years. I get this noise when travelling at really low speeds as well, but on really wet roads it does it when other cars I have had would normally slide out.
Holy ****, you must be the smartest man alive. Yeh TC does make a bit of noise but it shouldn't be too loud...
Smart enough to not put a car into a 180 degree spin. 30 years driving obviously isnt enough practise.
Dont be so harsh on him. If he is a Holden tech he must get a lot of stupid questions. In the IT helpdesk game there is an expression for explaining some computer problems. It is called P.B.K.A.C. In leymans terms it means Problem Between Keyboard And Chair!
LOL in this case there seems to be a problem between steering wheel and throttle. P.B.S.W.A.T Traction control is pretty loud in my ve, scares the crap out of me too, usually because it only happens when going a bit too quick through a turn so your concentrating hard so it sounds louder than it really is. I think you underestimate how bad your tyres are OP. Throw some nice goodyears on there and it will be loads better. It can take a while to get the feel of a commy when you first get one. What did you drive before?
Re: noise for ESC, thats normal. However if you are getting it too much, means you are pushing the limits of traction too far and vehicle is correcting it so essentially easy fix is to slow down to the conditions and to the current tyre grip.
I just love your reply,IT just goes too show what ricey said is right.. Learn how too drive smoothly, the vz is fly by wire throotle control. MAYBe that lightburn zeeta was the most powerfull car you have driven.. JUST slow down before you kill some ones child FOOL... POST A STUPID QUESTION EXPECT TOO TREATED LIKE A FOOL
