Hi All, Ever since I bought the car its had a slightly noisy thrust bearing. Sitting in neutral with the clutch in - no problems, clutch out you can here it - it sounds like a dry bearing noise...

Anyway, I had it serviced a while ago and they must have lubricated it - as the noise went away, I was so pleased! Only to have it come back a week later.

Is this a normal ?
What can be done about getting rid of it, apart from pulling the gearbox out and replacing the bearing assy?

Weekly spray of WD40 mate, other than that if it has run dry and worn, there's nothing you can do but pull it out and replace it.

Where do you spray? Isn't the bearing inside to box?

Most gearboxes have a check hole, although I did make one when I did my VY Clubby... There surely has to be a hole that you could stick a wd40 red needle into..

I've got a vx ss with the same noise, I don't think I've ever seen a hole?

Noisy thrust bearing. Only 'sure cure' is replacement.
