Hi all. Im looking at changing the Diff in my calais. Its currently a LSD with 3.08. If been offered a VP LSD with 3.45s in it. I could just change the gears, but it seems easier to unbolt the old LSD center and bolt in the VP one. The VP diff has about the same K's on it as mine and has been inspected. Its $250. Now they are both IRS diffs, but my calais has ABS and the VP does not, Will this be a problem with only changing the center? cheers
i dont think it should be a problem. the diffs are the same, its the sensors that are bolted to the diff you'll have to either swap to the vp diff, providing it has the bolt holes. The only other thing u'll have to check is the shafts (dont know the proper name) that come out either side of the diff, that you bolt your axles to, the should be slotted. if you have a look at your diff, u'll see the 2 sensors and the slots that give the sensors there readings. if these arent slotted, u have 2 options. 1. swap the internals of both diffs and use the VS housing and VP internals. 2. with a crow bar (or hydo press) remove the shafts from the diff and replace with the slotted ones from your VS. i believe the info here is correct, but please someone post up and correct me if im wrong!
