Is the throttle position sensor same on both? Not sure if that could cause your probs but a faulty one caused my car to idle at over 2 grand.

    Check your fuel pressure regulator.

Also, did you reset the ECU after replacing all the parts?

I'd double check that the plug leads are going from the correct coil to the correct sparkplug as its easy to mix the coils and leads. Not easy to check the fuel pressure regulator - I'd just make sure the vacuum line to it is plugged in. Mine ran for a while with the vacuum line disconnected and didn't make any difference but yours may be different.
Not all parts from a VS fit a VR so you may have a conflict there.
    Hope its fixed soon.

The diaphragm in the regulator may have a split in it pumping extra fuel into the intake. Take the vacuum line off and see if it has fuel in it.

^^ The lead order would be a good place to start.

The regulator is on the return line back to the tank. Round thing about the size of a small Yo Yo. It is at the back of the engine near the fuel line.

That code 49 indicates "intermittent cam angle or crank angle signal" - there is a method of testing this in the Gregory manual using a multimeter.

    :bang:
back again checked regulator & vacuum line clear & no fuel.
tried to start it & still it starts but idles really rough ... i mean like touch the throttle & she coughs & splutters & backfires heaps .
    cleared codes again & only 12 & 49
49 in code chart is camshaft /crankangle sensor signal intermitent ( wat the ????) both brand new sensors.

Brand new sensors can be faulty....but also double check the connectors to both and also the connector under the coil pack.

    Yes... Good advice.
We just replaced a brand new CAS on a car here as wew had the harmonic balancer off and it would not run at all !!!!!
Put the old sensor in and it ran fine again.
Took it back to holden and they replaced it and it was all tops after that!!!
So yes.... just cos it is new doesnt mean it is faultless!!!

if it keeps logging that code 49, you have to fix that before it will run properly, just check, that when you put the new balancer on, that 1, its the correct part, 2 that you didnt bend any of the windows for the cas, and also that the cas is mounted correctly, like not ****ed up on one side or something, also that the balancer is pulled up all the way onto the crank shaft, those things only need a small nick from a blade on the balancer and they will be frigged. Check that the wires havent backed out of the plug for the cas, and intermitant code is usualy wiring.

let us know how you go, i reckon it could be a faulty loom somewhere around the CAS

Towed by a ford... that's bad.

TPS from VS will fit VR.

BCM won't as it has to be matched to key and same lux model etc.

Doubt BCM will stop the car running properly. BCM only realy is security features to get car started.
