VE SV6
Hi all
Have a 2008 VE SV6 and been sitting a while battery has been going flat. Tried to jump start but no luck so bought a new battery today and now doesn’t start at all.

It had the ABS and stability lights before but would start.
Is there something when the battery has been disconnected a while and lock me out?
Or a reset I’m meant to do with new battery or is this just a coincidence and maybe the started motor has gone or something.

It all powers on and I hear a click but then nothing, starter doesn’t try to turn.
I’ve checked all fuses etc

Any advise?

Possibly the Starter Motor, maybe,
k's ?

As the VE's are getting a bit older, and these items do wear out/age, and can fail.

Nothing lasts for ever.

It sounds like a or multiple modules may be damaged.

Do we know the battery is good?

Are the terminals super clean?

Are the terminals tight?

Are the earths clean?

Is it the right key?

Give the starter a light tap with a small hammer.

Yeah it’s at 199k
Just weird coincidence if it happened to be the starter motor. It seemed the most obvious but wasn’t sure if there was a reset procedure I’d had to do.

Yes brand new battery
Terminals right and clean
Earths appear clear and work via multimeter.
Same key that was staring it before (as I only have the 1 now).

Yes I’m worried about damaged modules so trying to get an odb on it to see if it talks to the modules tomorrow, hopefully.
Does a damaged starter throw up a code? Via OBD?

Is the new battery you purchased actually fully charged? Perhaps a charge using a suitable battery charger might be in order.

Hadn’t thought of that, just assumed it would be I guess. It turned everything on and showed a higher voltage than before in the engineering menu.

Well, it doesn't seem to turn everything on at all (starter motor), otherwise your vehicle would turn over properly and would most likely start. At the very least, give the new battery a decent charge, then try.
