    Hey guys

Today i picked up my flywheel from NPC performance clutches.. I got it machined and mirror balanced. Im happy with the machining but the balance looks weird compared to other VR flywheels that i have seen been balanced.. Normally people drill holes for a balance on the back right?? With mine they cut out a square chunk and drilled holes on the front of the flywheel.. Has anyone ever had a balance like this or has noone ever heard of it.. I trust they did a good job i just hope its not a mistake and haft to pull it out again.. Also does anyone know/Recommend a good cleaning fluid to wipe the face of the flywheel to get crap off it??

    Cheers Jase

looking at the pics it looks like the holes they have drilled are not in the clutch face itself so to me it would seem normal, mind you has been 20years since I have played around swapping clutches etc. the large area they have machined from the back looks completely normal to me especially if a large amount was needed to be removed

Yeah i found it weird that they drilled the front and not the back.. It was a VR flywheel that was getting balanced to suit a series 2 ecotec with a T5.. I just lined up the new clutch and the holes miss the pressure plate and clutch disc.. I asked them what it was when i picked it up and they said it was some automated drilling or something???? Ever heard of it??

Im happy with the job just found it odd that its like a big square got grinded out instead of the usual drilling balance method.. Although not so good with 2 different quotes i got. Still cheap cost me $135 for the mirror balance and machine. I recommend them but i guess it will come down to what its like when i fire it up and see how much difference it really made whether its worse or better.

OK from what I know the buick engine is balanced differently to the ecotec as I know the harmonic balancer is very different between the two motors so this would explain the big section removed from the back of it, given that the clutch and pressure plate are clear of the balancing holes on the front I would not worry about it

Ok sweet as.. :D Yes the buicks and ecotecs are balanced differently thats why i got it done.. Just other VR flywheels has holes drilled out in various places to be balanced to suit a ecotec and not a chunk in one place.. Really CBF pulling it back out if its out of balance.. Cheers

I would think that NPC clutches would know what they were doing

Yeah i believe they did a good job and trust the work.. seems like a good company.. Just found it strange that it was a whole chunk instead of drilled holes. eh as long as its balanced it does’nt phase me..
