Thoughts on turkey? On paper it looks good but never see many people eating it.

Turkey is awesome. Very lean and high in protein. Stay away from the processed stuff obviously.
I personally don't eat it regularly, I prefer the taste of chicken.

Kangaroo is an awesome meat, such a nice flavour and really juicy. I don't even marinade the fillets, just season with salt, pepper, and olive oil and straight on the BBQ.

Yeah I have got the breast fillets before and cut them on the horizontal to thin them out.

Made some Turkey meatballs for dinner, I'll put some pics up later.
See what everyone thinks of how good they are nutrient wise.

500g lean turkey mince
3 garlic cloves
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs (need to think of something else to bind them with rather then breadcrumbs)

Made 14 decent golfball sized meatballs.
Total for each meatball is:
- 90 Cal
- 4g fat
- 5g of carbs
- 8g of protein

I'll most likely have them with a green salad with some avocado to add some good fats.

Your recipe for the turkey meatballs sounds pretty good, Might give that a try this week.

I've been munching on a good snack I usually have late morning or early afternoon.
Not sure of the protein and calorie count though.

1 serving of rice, brown or basmati
1 can of tuna
half an avacado, diced
2 eggs, I just whisk them up with a bit of salt and pepper and cook them like scrammbled eggs.
1 large tomato,diced
quarter of a large red capsicum, diced

mix together in a bowl and enjoy. Keeps me going for quite a while.

1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs (need to think of something else to bind them with rather then breadcrumbs)

Binding comes from the egg, you can also remove the yolk and just add the whites (beaten) if less protein is needed. The breadcrumbs actually dry out the meatball. If they fall apart you could always pre-make the meatballs and place in the fridge or use a muffin pan and place in the oven for 15-20mins that way they would all be the same sizes.

It is good , when I can get it makes a tasty burger using a similar process to Air Strikes recipe above , the processed stuff has a snot load of salt and flavour additives and and you say is best avoided . Personally I think turkey has a better flavour , but a good chook still hits the spot as well .

Good recipe and good macro's in that meal Dave :) I might give it a try when I start my next cutting diet. Turkey is a bit lean/too little calories for when I'm bulking, means I have to eat HEAPS if I choose alot of low-calorie option foods :/

Can't wait to shred and I'll definitely give the recipe a crack!

Any thought's on how protein rich snacks? I am still eating around a 55/30/15 split on carbs/fats/protein.
The carbs and fats I get are all healthy, coming mainly from fruit (3 pieces a day), nuts (60g a day), avocado (aprox 100g a day) and veg (around 4-6 serves a day).
There is only so much tuna a man can eat in one day!
