I have just found that my VS has killed yet another new O2 sensor?!

I bought 2 brand new genuine sensors from motor traders 2 months ago. One stopped functioning (according to my a/f gauge) so i pulled it out and found the internals had collapsed? i knew straight away when it rattled. fast forward a few weeks and the car starts missing again! and its the opposite side that is playing up?? what the heck are the chances of that?!

I though genuine should be of better quality?

p.s. i know how to handle the sensors properly, so no they were not dropped or anything!

so does anyone have any similar experiences or answers?

Check the cat, make sure it isn't partially blocked causing the front of the exhaust to heat too much. If the keyway on the crank or the balancer is worn it will throw the timing out and cause heat issues as well. The only other thing it may be is faulty sensors to start with, you may not have dropped them, but how many people have handled them before you?

Silicon poisons oxy sensors. They become sluggish.
Have you used any silicon gasket sealent that was not sensor safe?.

    yep silicone ruins the sensors,
    it could be your cats,
the sensors could be blocked up -the holes in the end need to be clear,
or they sensors could be damaged - inside the sensors is ceramic filament, if you hit your exhaust hard (speed bump) this filament could break
