got my hands on a ecotec that im building to put into my vs.
the car had done 250,000.
its got a wade camshaft and decent head work.
im putting all new seals and bearings in it and was wanted to know what parts are weak and will cause me drama?
ie, rockers, pistons, rods, crank, valves etcetc.

also, with my cam i need new valve springs, is there anyone doing a ls1 style spring for the ecotec's? or is there a certain brand i should be looking at?

cheers, lo-rolla.

The OEM parts are fine to a certain point. Poor maintenance will wreck any engine (built or stock). Crow cams does ecotec (LS1 style) springs up to 125lbs afaik.

i can by doulbe valve springs in a kit all u need to know is your specs for your cam when u speack to crow cams as they will need to work out the right pressure for the springs, if u r after power u might aswell remove the balance shaft and put a double row timing chain in for that little extra power and a little bit more rougher idle, but thats my opinion.

Thanks champ.
yeah going to be getting a rollmaster double row timing kit.
well, would a set of standard ls1 springs and retainers fit into the ecotec setup? or not.
