    Hi everyone,
I bought a gauge binnacle (original Holdens) and sprayed it in a 1989 Mitsubishi Elite grey metalic, as a can of it was sitting in my cupboard (the things you do...).

Anyway it was close but no match for the dash. :b:

Does anyone happen to know the code (original or aftermarket) to match the colour? It is hard to pick up in a photo but it is annoying and looks shabby being slightly different in colour.

    Thanks,
    Mark.

I think it MIGHT be "Tempest Grey". I do know that's the colour of some-sort-of-VY's dashboard.

Yep, I just brought it back to Holden last week to be replaced under warranty although I can't say it is much better! At least the shut line is parallel to the dash but it does not shut tight, so you can actually push it up slightly.

Very dissappointing, considering it is a common problem. My friend's VY Berlina ended up with a flat battery because of the glovebox droop, leaving the light on for several days. He also had it changed under warranty.

Yep, that would have been nice if it was available. :b:

When I bought it from the Holden dealer, all they could provide was the black plastic injection moulded finish, without paint.

    Looks alright to me...

Could be the photo's but I'm one of those 'not-so-picky' ones about the interior of a car. Unless it looks older than 1997, I won't touch it though lol.

All VY's come with a hands-free compatible stereo, so that the music mutes when calls come in or out, and the car speakers are used for the phone. I bought the kit when I bought the car, although it is worth noting how it was installed - remove the stereo and screw the mounting plate into an inner bracket, so when it is removed there are no holes!

Perhaps the only way to solve this problem would be to paint the whole lot?

That hands free kit of yours is not a genuine GMH is it ? As they told me if it was a manual the kit did not suit it. Although the wiring pick up was already under the carpet next to console.

Yes the Glove box doors are a piece of Sh*t for fit.

The kit is actually an original Nokia, which is compatible with the Holden stereo unit. Relatively easy to install (I have since replaced it with the Nokia 6210 car kit but looks almost the same).

There is no relevance to the gearbox although it needs to be placed so that you don't knock it every time you select 1st gear.

So if I was to walk into a phone shop and say I want a Nokia 6210 incar kit, would GMH still be required to fit it to make it work with the stereo as yours does ?

    Sorry for the delay.

No, Holden do not need to install it, any phone installer can do it. When I bought the car new, they actually got the kit installed by a contractor installer.

    No news yet.

I have a number of choices.
    1) A got a quote from a paint shop, $50 to paint the binnacle guaranteed same colour.
    2) I was thinking of buying a roll of fake carbon fibre to cover the binnacle and the two strips that run down from the binnacle to the centre console
    3) I could buy cans of auto paint until I find a good match
    4) I could paint the binnacle and the strips together, so that it would not be so noticeable.

    What does everyone think?
