Does anyone use engine oil flush ?
I used one in my old VK last oil change out of curiosity, the oil seems to be cleaner on the dipstick with about 1500k's on it, whether it was worth the extra $20 who knows.
I can shamefully say I succumbed to peer group pressure from some mates who swear by it.
Probably won't worry about doing it again can't really see any real benefit.

In my current VF2, dropped oil for 1st change @ 1K & will change every 5K or six months whatever goes first. Use Penrite 10/60 full synth in mine & runs smooth.

I thought engine flush was only for neglected engines where the oil hasn't been changed for some time.

I wouldn't bother using it on an engine that get an oil change every 5000k or so.

Isn't it a bit "extreme" to use 10w"60" engine oil in the new engine? Viscosity of "60" may put extra stress on the engine parts hence higher fuel consumption? But then LS3 is a very robust engine...I use 5w30 in my 6 years old CX9 instead of the recommended 5w20 as it is an older engine. It seems to run smoother afterwards and also save me to keep different grades of engine oil as I use 5w30 to top up my wife's Audi S1 (heavy oil drinker in between services) and my daughter's Honda Jazz (hardly needs any top up). :D

It is but some people use it say every 20 k just to help . If used on non completely sludged motors its good but after spending 5 hours diesel scrubbing the mrs crank sump and valve train from using flush on a 90k old car i wouldnt again. Id use diesel oil and do 2k services til the detergents did their thing.

10/60 is a bit heavy for a stock engine. I'm running a 10/50 (a 10/40 with "extra 10" as penrite call it) mainly due to the dual valve springs and high lift camshaft causing more shear load in the valvetrain. For a stock I'd really stick to 5/30 or 10/40.
