hey me dad got a new oil cooler from a garage sale (brand new just been sitting for a while still in package) ...only cost you guessed it $1....cant find a fault on it either haha

only thing is its a smallish on that i think is for a 4 cylinder

would this be ok for the auto on a vs commy if i run teh return line from the cooler in the radiator to this cooler then back to the auto? just to give it a little bit more cooling of the oil

    cheers

im pretty sure the cooling capacity from the radiator isnt too crash hot. the aftermarket cooler i have on my car is about the size of a small cereal box (but obviously not as thick)

and thats connected to the tranny WITHOUT going to the radiator at all... (total by-pass)

though, i cant see it hurting too much if you put it on the return from the radiator to the tranny.... just pressure drop might be a concern??? (Verification required)

one of the guys onhere should know where the pressure pump in a tranny is and how it affects the flow... yadda yadda!

    hope i helped! :)

also mine is a series 2 96 vs executive....i have bee told the series 2 have a trans cooler mounted out the front of the radiator? but mine dont :( just has the push on hoses on the radiator (original radiator...car has 77 000 on the clock lol )

mine is a series II S-Pack.

and it never had this seperate cooler you speak of...???

it took me blowing a tranny to get the aftermarket cooler out the front...!

do yourself a favour... go for a drive to your local mech (or tranny expert if you can)... take the cooler, and ask... will it be "better" than what setup you currently have...

Dont let him say "thats a crap cooler, youre better with a bigger one, yadda yadda"

Be SPECIFIC... say "is THIS cooler... better than what i HAVE running in my car NOW!"

cause we all know, a proper tranny cooler will be the best for it... but ANY cooler has to be better than the factory radiator setup???

just be cautious about oil flow rate... though... i dont think it will restrict it too much from what i can see!

but yeah... go show a mechanic.. :)

ummm, can i ask why you dont run it through your radiator first PanthaVS? the more cooling the better. you might as well get the radiator to cool it down before it goes through your other cooler

You should use both the inbuilt cooler in the radiator and the after market unit. Have it go from the transmission to the radiator one first, then into the after market cooler, then back to the transmission. The more cooling you have the better - autos don't like to get too hot:thumbsup:

mine was done by a tranny joint... and havent had problems since...

that was 2 years ago... and 6 months ago i changed to a new radiator... (old one cracked)

so havent been bothered to do so... bit yes... run it "tranny, radiator, cooler, back to tranny..."

as long as the tranny can handle going through both of them? (Pressure wise)

    :)

yes it will handle it fine. theres no reason why there would be any pressure drop

lol i was under the impression that it will be fine to place it after the one in the radiator...however if i was to by pass the one in the radiator altogether then id go with a bigger one but seeing that im gonna run it after the one in the radiator it cant hurt.....i hope :p

any more cooling helps i guess.....dont want tranny blowing up haha will cost more to fix then what i paied for the car

also which is return and which is entry hose?
    cheers
