Oil Leaks - Throttle Body Pipe CONNECTING To Air Filter

Just yesterday I decided to install the long awaited CAI from Mace Engineering for my VZ 3.6L ALLOYTEC, but unfortunately when I started taking off parts to install the new CAI I noticed some pretty heavy oil leaks!! @_@

Below are some pictures, anyone has any idea where's that coming from, moreover there's also oil leaks on the engine block as well :\



I think its most probably coming from the rubber pipe that connects to the plastic pipe, but why is there oil leaks!!

The oil comes from the valve covers via the pcv system. Oil vapour is fed into the intake and burnt by the engine.

This can be greatly reduced by doing a dual oil catch can set up.

So that means having oil in the intake pipe is normal? :\
Moreover can you plz explain more about "dual oil catch can set up", share any link or something for VZ particularly

Yes it’s normal to see a Shinto load of oil in there

Damnnn...well if that's a normal thingy then its probably a fu*ed up situation, I'll have to clean it every now and then :\
Just look at the oil and dirt build up under the pipe :\
Mannn it took me an hour cleaning that up!!

That would suggest the vacuum line attaching to that pipe is deteriorated. It can become brittle and crack. They are available from Holden and on eBay from Holden dealers that sell on there.

Inside, the oil will gather at points where there are increased surface area. Places like the articulated prt of the intake pipe, bends inside the intake manifold etc.

This is what the catch cans do. They provide increased surface area to catch the oil vapour and let cleaner air into the manifold, eliminating a lot of what you see.

Also, clean the engine bay dude! That’s grot. Makes my eye twitch.

LoOOlLL ...yea man its really been a while since I got time to clean the engine bay, it really has seen days, most of the dirt is due to serious sand storms here in Riyadh
