well another little annoying think as arrived why my car while Idling in gear and hand break off the oil light flashes to the shaking of the engine but while in park and hand break on the oil light doesn't do anything. cause i just dumped it and put brand new oil and oil filter the outer day
It might be a bad connection at the oil pressure sensor or the sensor itself is stuffed. Is the oil at the right level after the oil change? Also was it the right type of oil filter fitted? With the engine running, carefully wiggle the wiring and connector near the sensor and see if the light flickers then.If not its probably the sensor itself.
the levels are all good and its the right filter i will have a look at the sensor in day light 2morro
to be shure it not the oil pump i would get a oil pressure check done asap. if it was a dodgy sensor it would be on all the time aslo if it was a wiring issue it would be on all the time side note have you just washed the engine?
nope i havent done anything to it beside fixed a leaking inlet gasket but it was done by natrad and they dumped the oil and did the filter
If the oil pressure has a problem, you will be able to hear the engine rattling,it will be quite loud and noticeable. If the engine noise has changed recently then you know it will be an oil pressure problem. If the engine still sounds ok,then Id replace the oil pressure switch (sensor) and then see what happens. They are around $25 from holden.I replaced mine about 2 weeks ago, mine was still working ok, but it was leaking oil past the wiring connector pins on the sensor and making a mess.If theres no change with the oil pressure light after changing the sensor, then get the oil pressure tested like moff man suggested.I wouldnt go driving it like that as least until you know the oil pressure is ok from the pressure test.
it hasn't got a rattle of any kind but it makes the old engine whine but that's normal i will get a new sensor and see if that helps
