How is he attacking? He just fails to see why people laud him as the greatest human being ever. Crazy cult people..
Absolutley. If Minux had've kept his opinion to himself, then I see no problem. Inappropriate to express his negative thoughts in what is supposed to be a rememberence thread. It's a sad day when someone who is meant to uphold the values, and integrity of a forum opens themselves up in such a way, that could ruin a tribute thread for someone that many people considered a hero. I took great offence to what he said, and that's why I've let him have a piece of my mind. Even if it does cause me to get banned. It's none of his business why people think highly of Peter Brock. None at all. If people want to shrine themselves in Peter Brock rememberence everyday for the rest of their lives, let them. It doesn't make you any better by questioning peoples' decisions on who they class as heroes or not. It's like that Italian tenor bloke who died yesterday. I don't even know who he was, but I'm sure many people will be hurt by his loss, and I'm sure they think he's a hero in the classical music world, but does that mean I should question the people that think highly of him? Hell no.
Exactly, this thread is for people to pay their respect to Brock. People who dislike him or have no respect for, should stay out of this thread. Simple.
R.I.P Brocky. And for you all flaming minux, he's entited to his opinion and i don't think he was trying to disrespect anyone.
Cheers, you are exactly right. People just get pissed off because it is against what they believe. As for the others, this is a PUBLIC forum, not a private forum. If i wish to add my my thoughts i will. Just because i am a moderator it does not mean i cannot do this. If you wish to hold a forum where you only see the praises of something then create a website and do this. As for the person who mentioned my attacks, i am the only one who has been attacked for stating my opinion.
I call that disrespect. I get very annoyed when someone thinks just because they have an opinion, they can express it, and not expect anyone to disagree with it. Of all the threads, and all the days he just happened to pick the thread on Brock's 1 year anniversay. Of course he's going to get attacked. You're all only standing by him, because he's a well known moderator. If it was some random newbie, they would get flamed to kingdomcome. Maybe he should've stuck to what he said.
Lets hope no one that you may respect or admire and who has passed on is bagged openly on an anniversary of their passing. As I stated if you want to bag someone do it in another thread, just let those who respected and admired Peter Brock for all his accomplishments share their feelings here. Or is that to much to ask of a Forum dedicated to a Holden Icon - Commodore - of which Peter Brock was very much a part of the story in building its reputation as an Aussie V8 Supercar legend.
G'day minux, out with that feather duster to clean this negativity out, don't forget your frilly moderator smock. In Australia,we look up to the likes of Brock and respect their hero status. You don't need to be a cult member to express your liking to an individual, just a true blue aussie with a passion and a sporting hero to look up to. P.S.Nice collection of model cars.
I have a signed poster from Bathurst 1994. I was too shy to go up to him and get it signed so my Dad went up and did it for me. He was always good to his fans. Greatly missed.
Exactly. Without Brock, there would've been no HDT. Which are very famous here, and without Brock building HDT, and spliting from Holden in the late 80s there would be no HSV. Ok maybe it's overboard to say he was the greatest human ever, but he played a huge part in Australian motorsport. (Who cares if he wasn't a world wide figure)
You've never heard of the Peter Brock Foundation? He may not have cured cancer, but he's dome more than you or i have towards it. Personally tho, i respect his driving talent he had, but as a person dislike him very much. He was talking to a mates Dad at Bathurst one year, looked down and noticed the DJR logo, and turned away and walked off (nothing polite like i have to go now) I thought i'd test the opposite with Dick, and surprisingly he was quite happy for a chat when i was wearing my Jack Daniels top (maybe cause they aren't really any competition for him)
I was going to also point out the drink driving campaign. I respect what he did for racing, car enthusiasts & the community. I think that is plenty of reasons to morn his loss.
ment to be a day to remember the things he has done he has done a lot for us all in someway others more not fair people bad mouth dead people they are too gutless to do it when they are alive yes he only raced cars but he done lots off the tracks too thanks to all you who have being kind on this very sad day for me and many others he will live long in our hearts
i posted the exact same thing when he was still with us, and because of how disrespectful i found his actions, i never once met him.
Just because he did something bad in one occasion does not mean he is a bad guy, we all do things in a bad way. There are millions other people who are in piss poor attitude every day!
Yeah and it's also bad to judge someone, who you've never met. I met Peter back in the mid 90s just before he joined HRT, and honestly he had to be told by officials to stop signing autographs, and talking to his fans. He was down to earth, and also gave his fans his time. Yeah there were some times where acted like a asshole, but hey no one is a saint. Same deal as with people who bag Skaife, Murphy, Tander, the Kellys etc. I've met all of these blokes, and they are nice people.
Theres not millions of posts on here remembering them for what they did in their lifetime. I'm not saying that makes him a bad person, i'm just saying someone of his caliber, could have been more inclined to talk to someone wearing the opposite colours. Afterall, it was a ford that made the 05 as famous as it is today, yet they aren't on a single one of those memorials that the TS has.
It's ok mate, let it go, i feel your pain too! It's obvious that you are still in the denial stage but it will pass and you will be free to appreciate the great driver that is/was Brocky. I was pretty angry too for a while, i dont think i ever tried to cover it up with negative thoughts though, you must of thought he was pretty special hey. I bet you only posted these comments so this thread would stay on the front page too, nothing like a bit of controversy to help that. My thoughts are with his family
the 1980 championship win was a VB bearing O5,the seira era was 88, 89 Holden would not be the most successful team in history if it wasnt for BROCKY thats my bit 4 the legend:undead:
