Appreciate all the info so far!

Where actually is the manual boot release located? I climbed in there with a screwdriver and then couldn't find it.

I have a wagon

Youtube video of someone doing it to a VE. Wouldn’t think that a VF would be different.

ah OK cheers! did see that there but foolishly thought it was something to do with keeping the trim on (it seemed reluctant to come off).

Thanks for that

I couldn't do it - pulled the cover off and put the screwdriver in the hole but there is nothing to turn or push or anything. It's just a hole with a small metal clip in it.

Or am I being particularly stupid?

Go to about 2:50, you can see the doohickey once the actuator’s been removed.

OK will try again later.

In the event can't do it will hook up new battery to the posts in the engine bay.

For the purpose of just powering it up to open the boot (rather than trying to turn it over), does it matter if I only have 200amp jumper leads?

Cheers

If you are already in the rear, why not take the new battery in there with you and replace it ?

Not the most comfortable operation and annoyed that can't get the manual release working.

But yes it is on my mind as an option
