Hi guys, need advice
Is 287xxx too many kms for a ‘09 SS ute? It’s completely stock but unsure of any mechanical servicing

At that age, yes IMHO, especially if it doesn't have full documented service history, parts receipts etc.

I sold my VS last year. While it had 292,xxx kms on it, it was 22 years old and had full service history with receipts for pretty much everything (even including the floor mats).

9 year old car with those kms and uncertain history ? I would avoid.

Does that mean if it were to have service history it is worth a look?

Agree with 5.0, we have a thread with a poor bloke who has had to tear down his engine because of a previous owners failure to have it serviced regularly.

IMO you could do better. My old 94 only has 195k on it. I have had the engine apart and it is clean as.

250k+ is when things tend to get expensive. Look for something under 200k imo. The extra you spend in purchase price you’ll save in repair costs imo.

With that many Ks, it is not just the motor to look at, it is everything that goes round and round, or up and down.

My Daughters VT that she has owned for 12 years that I have mostly looked after has just hit 300,000 and it's now needing money spent on it. Time to sell it. Much the same with most things I feel.

It might be cheap to buy now BUT in the long run it will cost you way more than if waited & spent a few more grand on a low mileage well looked after car with legit service history.

Buy the right car for you not the cheapest car.
