HOLDEN VX SS 17 INCH GENUINE ALLOY WHEELS
WHEELS ARE 17X8 WITH 48+ OFFSET WITH 5/120 STUD PATTERN
8,0 Inches 215 mm min width / 225 or 235mm Ideal tyre width, 245 mm Maximum tyre width.

Factory size is 235/45X17....215 or 225's will be under load rated for the vehicle and the 245's will cause the speedo to read incorrectly

Did you know, this is for the older style tyres? The newer style tyres, the inflation patterns are actually reversed.

Example...I have 225/50X16 Kumho KU22's fitted to my Commodore....When I initially put them on, I set the air pressure at 34PSI.....Result was the centre was wearing....I increased the pressure to 36PSI and now they wear perfectly flat.

I also love the bit, that says, below recommended levels....Mate, if I set tyres to the recommended levels, tyres would be stuffed within 10 to 20 thousand kays, with a tyre that would last 40 thousand kays normally
So my suggestion is, go work in the trade instead of doing these internet searches and learn how things actually work in the real world

Yip going 10mm wider will change your speedo, ok then. Only stated tyre guide to fit those rims that's why they recommends size 225 or 235.

It's exactly that...A guide, not what should actually be fitted to keep the car roadworthy

Hope he checked your front hub bearing, 2 tyres on one hub go bad, wont be long before number 3 victim. Most cars pull to the curve that's how they crown the road so water runs off.

Where do you get the 2 tyres bit from? The original post states 1 tyre is an issue

Lol, that came from Bob jane T-mart so they need to go and learn there trade.
That's strange for yours to do that most flat tyres wear out the side walls.

No it's not strange....It's the way the tyres are manufacturered these days....The posting you put up, was good, when conventials were the norm and radial tyres were coming in

Bob Jane T-mart hey.....Well, say no more....The majority of that chain have apprentices working for them, that are lucky to be 20 years old.....

The older ones that work for them, can't get a job in the trade anywhere else, so they camp there.

And finally, even the owners of the franchises are wanting out of it.....It's being stuffed up big time by the owner

I know it was a guide that's why It says recommended size, my 17inch are 235/45/17 as most tyre places will only fit recommended tyres to your rim.

It was asked, what tyres should be fitted to their VXSS rims.....Not a guide of what should be fitted

Center Wear
It Looks Like: Your tire is worn down only in the middle.

The Diagnosis: This tire was overinflated, causing the center ring only to contact the road. Consequently, whoever drove this car had only a fraction of the rubber contacting the asphalt, so his or her traction suffered.

To find the correct tire pressure, check the door placard or the owner's manual. Check the pressure when the tires are cold, before you start driving. Some people claim that you should overinflate tires to reduce rolling resistance and increase fuel economy. But that's a fool's game. You might save some fuel, but you'll pay more in prematurely worn tires.

If your pressure is correct but you still see center wear, this could indicate that the wheel and tires are not properly matched. There is one caveat here: Woody Rogers, product information specialist at Tire Rack, says that some rear-wheel-drive vehicles can produce center wear on certain tires, even if they're properly aired up and maintained. But that's true only for high-powered sports cars.
