Why didn't you just retro fit a IQ system? .... Least it would be genuine stuff.

Why would you say it wouldn't work, it's made for a Commodore VE Series 1 it does not fix any other car
it's working better then the stock radio, & it has In-Built Steering Wheel Interface so they all work
the Bluetooth & Navigation work great it even loads your phone book into it.

The Radio/HVAC cable that plugs into the stock radio cable has a GM lable box,
have a look at the image of the main cable on the 2nd page
this may use the can bus, as all hvac cotrols work as before, when you press a button or turn a knob on the AC it show it on the screen

Easy, the genuine IQ system is $2500 & you got to go VIC to get it fitted
This one is much more then the IQ one & only costs $749 & only takes less the 2hrs to fit
Look at there Web site to see what it can do

http://http://www.digoptions.com.au/android-gps-for-holden-commodore-ve-series-1-nav-b

My son has a VE SSV & he say it shits over the IQ with what it can do.
Where I park my car I can get the Internet on it as it has Wi-Fi & a browser, download games as it is a android system, watch movies on it, did I say it has a BIG a 8in screen like the VF

It fits the dash great, the only thing is it only comes in silver that may be a put off for some,
I was going to plastic dip the Fascia & silver trim to black, don't know yet

as VPFreak said ' I would leave it silver, as it looks more "factory" '

It only come in silver but as you can see it mates up with the silver trim & looks good,
I got a can of black plastic dip & was going to change the Fascia & silver trim to black
What do you think leave it Silver or redo it black

I now have a blank screen on the top, the red one that displays the org radio info,
anyone know what I could put there, I would like a clock

Gary
I actually think the silver looks good though!

As for the top gauges, I imagine the new headunit is not output the factory messages required to display on that screen hence why it goes blank.
This also occurs for people that to a series 1 non-screen to a series1 SSV/HSV colour screen upgrade where the top display go blank. The remedy for this is to get them programmed to the dual gauges display :beer chug:
I *think* when the top SIC display is programmed to the dual gauge style (Or triple), it then works completely independent of the stock radio hence why they work and display since they read live vehicle data from the cars communication bus.

I dont think I have actually powered up a SIC without a radio on the bench, I think I might have to try this later today to double check this!

to me it looks like it doesnt use the can bus, in which case it wouldn't work
HVAC controls will use the CANbus, but the original developer would have made this based on the SSV/HSV units which didnt output the required messages for the top SIC display with time ect. As the top SIC would have had the dual gauge display for the SSV/HSV (USA G8's.)

Do not know as I dont have dual zone controls, but it has setting for on/off dual zone in the auto/car setup screen,
there is lots of stuff you can change on that screen. Don't forget it is only for series 1

In the end the Heater & AC work the same as before, but with all the info on the screen.

cewing if you look at the image in TazzI post, you can see a 0'C at the top right of the screen,
this would be for temp I would say & seeing I don't have auto and dual zone it only display a 0
