I just took my 2001 vx for a 5 minute drive not going fast or anything then I pressed the power button n then my temperature shot up n ended up having my engine start smoking. Any idea on why this might of happened.

( had no idea what power button did so just wanted see if it changes how it drove, since over heating I’ve looked up what it does)

Power button just moves your shift point

If you engine is old and poorly serviced you probably lunched it by leaning on it when it wasn't up to temp

5 minutes might bring up your coolant temp but your oil wont be up to temp

I'm curious about how your engine is smoking though, out the exhaust I assume?

Had more of a look n saw that water was bubbling out of the heater valve. So assuming that’s just gotta be replaced and should be good

How is the power steering fluid in the reservoir?
