Vx commodore L36
Hi so my temp gauge on my 2002 Vx commodore says it’s one quarter on the temp gauge when starting it on the morning, I’d always keep the rpm under 2k but after about 10 to 20 minutes the temp gauge goes all the way up and will stay there all day. Just recently after about an hour drive like this it would start overflowing coolant but the gauge would never go down. I looked at the temp and the thermo fans come on at 104 degrees Celsius and turn off at 95

I have no idea what it’s doing
Cheers

First step would be to replace the cap on the coolant recovery reservoir (preferable with an OEM one).

Check for leaks first,

Then replace the -
Thermostat,
&
TS !
Bleed the air out of it.

If you don't know what is doing,
How do you know the fans are coming on at 104c, and turn off at 95c ?

yea if ur looking at it first thing in the morning and its already at 1/4 when u start it dead cold id change the coolant temp sensor, vt vx use coolant temp to ecu then to dash gauge, yet that dosnt explain how the fans still turn on at proper temp, maby dash issue ?
