Padding on SIDI engine

    Does anyone know exact reason for ridiculous amount of padding on SIDI engines. I mean it's everywhere...

    So bloody ugly...I'm tempted to rip it all off !

    I think its for NVH.... apparently the direct injection fuel system is quite noisy so the put all the ugly padding in to shut it up.

    Maybe. Underside of engine cover looks like they stuck a bloody mattress underneath :)

    Yeah, that sound like a loosely packed b-double full of empty wine bottles that Holden have hardly disguised will be worse without the "padding"......
