What sort of budget am I looking at for a full respray plus paint & fit body kit?

Being VP in white would have been a one stage no clear kind of paint yeah?

I understand the body kit is going to blow up the budget with the additional many many pieces, but what kind of $$ should I be expecting?

Ultimately yes it will need to go to a shop for a quote, but keen to know what bracket of coin I should be expecting before I go loading a half dismantled car & 14 pieces of fibreglass around to a few shops for pricing.

For a half decent open door full respray including engine bay and fitting a fibreglass body kit at an ok shop I would budget a minimum of $12-15k.
obviously a lot depends on the current condition of the car/parts and any repairs needed.
Try ringing around for some quotes first though.

You could pay a shop 10k they'll treat it like 1 day auto paint job.,

Crazy how much industry has changed since 2 pack days.

These days 10k will get you a good quality closed door respray but not a full respray.

Budget 15+ if you've already stripped the car right down and done some prep work yourself (aka dent/trolley ding removal etc) for a full respray.

$5k will get you a quick scuff and shoot if you shop around. But it will be one of those you get what you pay for type dealies.

Would repainting all the separate pieces by more labour intensive than painting the car whole?
Just a thought.

To get a rough ballpark price just take and send lots of photos to give them an idea of it’s condition, it’s not that hard if they want the work.

The biggest reason they want to see the car is peoples definition of "ready for paint" is very different from a painters.

Some people will tell a crash shop/painter that the cars body is in perfect nick and just needs to be primed and painted.

Yet they start to rub it back and it's got bog or trolley dings which are hard to see etc. It's buiness suicide for them to even give a rough estimate without seeing the car.

If your going for a quick respray too (ie not bare metal) they are often worried about clear peel which hit the holdens hard from the VN-VS era as clear peeling cars make 10x more prep work blowing out the costs.

Paint is one of those things you really can't give a ballpark without seeing the car.

Also NORTI if it's the VP that you are respraying bear in mind theres additional cost with that car being Acrylic paint from factory. Painters will only spray 2k these days and to spray 2k over acrylic you need to prep it and seal it very well to stop it from reacting.

Ah thanks for that. Won’t have any clear coat issues since its white, but the acrylic will be the issue

Car needs paint (its 30 yrs old) and the 14 pieces is the full HDT Aero kit, so would need painting before being hung on the car.
