Painting Dash Panels

Gday Everyone

I am looking to paint some of the panels in the car... Just around th centre console.. Just wondering of any tips and tricks for this...

I am wanting to do it gloss black....


I am thinking the whole centre section (The silvery parts) i hope this makes sense. Plus because i am making a double din fascia for the centre console to house the CD / DVD player i have bought if i do that gloss black as well it will all match instead of looking half baked as such

i dont like the gloss black, go and drive a ba/bf fairlane, while you driving in the sun it reflects and gives you the sh1ts big time

I was worried about that but we have a monaro at work that has it done and it looks awesome... love it.. and it is well tinted so doesnt make a huge difference only through the windscreen

I did a wh stato dash conversion in my old vx then resprayed it again for my mrs vt calais when i sold my old car

any tips....

be very patient

work your way down sand paper grades to at least 1200 as a final before you paint

if there is a blemish in the surface it will show up way worse once you add colour and black is the worst colour as it shows up everything

if your prep is good then you should have no problems

not very good at showing the finish but there all i can find atm

Awesome.... I am going to do all the prep work myself as i have to make a new fascia for the double din AV unit i am putting in the dash but my brother in law is a car spray painter so he will be doing the final paint job so it should come up great

I will post photos of th progress if anyone is interested

that looks real good, you just need to get urself some black aircon knobs to set it off, they where standard on vy ss i think,
