Hi, new to this forum. Wondering if there’s a way to update/remove pandora from stereo system seeing as how it’s no longer available in Australia?
Also, can apple CarPlay be installed instead? TIA

The two things you’ve mentioned there have been complained about at great length & by many people; you’re not alone in being bothered by them. :)

Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do about them via Holden. You need to buy aftermarket hardware to do CarPlay (and it’s a but clunky), and you’d need to find a hacker to get rid of the Pandora icon.

Just move the Pandora icon to page 2 on the screen and you never have to see it. Easiest fix.

You can write to HCC and voice your disapointment that Holden hasn't updated the MyLink firmware to remove Pandora app from within. You can also voice your disatisfaction that Holden doesn't offer an option to upgrade teh VF MyLinK to provides AA/ACP as Mazda has done for some of its custiomers.

Will it make a difference? Not if only one person writes in but maybe if a portion of the 60,000 VF owners voice their disapointment.

After all, didn't public pressure stop Holden from ditching the V8 lineup some decades ago?

Correct, but the benefit for Holden was a whole heap of V8 sales...What's their incentive to update software on an obsolete car? It's not as if most VF owners are going to be return customers these days..

replace the HU completely if it bothers you that much, i know mazda did it but updating the sw in a HU is very uncommon.

Looking after your customer has a multitude of benefits, one of which is repeat business. Look after them and they are likley to come back. Disregard them or don’t support the product they purchased and these customers are almost certain to desert your brand. Such desertions are amplified 10 fold as they let others know of how they were treated.

It’s simply a good forward thinking business strategy to look after your customers, something that Holden doesn’t do well based on what I read in these forums and through personal experiance after signing on the dotted line to buy my MSE.

And to be clear, VF MyLink is open source based with GM proprietary modules so they should be able to simply recompile the firmware with a few different switch combinations to release a pandora free version and run an automated test routine. It’s not a million dollar job. If their system doesn’t work in this way and is idiotically difficult to recompile and test, then their software designers need to be taken out to the back shed and dismissed.

Adding AA/ACP may be marginally more engaging as a module likely needs to be added. A module that should already exist.

Reality is Holden CBF and a grass roots movement to get enlighten them may actually achieve something. Just as occured with the V8 issue so many years ago.

This. It would be money pisssed-up against the wall. People buy cars at the Holden (low) end of the market primarily on price ...

I just want updated maps and AA may allow for me to side step Holden in this regard. From what I’ve read, replacing VF MyLink with a 3rd party headunit seems like an excersice in trading one set of problems for another.
