    Hi Guys and Gals

To save myself some time i would like to know the process
of fitting speakers in the parcel shelf of a vy.
As i can see there is a 6x9 sized plate.
Can this be removed easily, spot welds etc
Also are there holes in what look like speaker grills on the parcel shelf.

    Any help is much appretiated

    Cheers

    Cam

Hi, welcome to the forums. May I introduce you to the concept of "searching" the forum.

Towards the top right of the page you may see a little text box that says "Google Custom Search". Simply type what you want in there, for instance "Vy 6x9" and press enter or click the magnifying glass.

This topic has been covered several times and the simple search function is implemented so that people do not have to regurgitate the same information over and over again.

Yes, the plate is easily removed, they are just spot welds.
Yes, they are where you install speaker grills on the parcel shelf.

Simply buy grills like these eBay grills, use a stanley knife to cut the shelf and then install these grills.

Next time please save us some time by using the search function. Even using Google will most likely land you on a JC forum thread that would talk you through it.
    Google search

Hell, the google search even reveals a youtube video which shows the installation in a VT/VX (very similar if not the same parcel shelf).

A search of this will probably reveal something too, although I can't be bothered. Of course it can be done. Will most likely require you to cut a hole in the roof.

I have also seen people use a flexible antenna "rope" that sticks to your windscreen and they have had the factory antenna hole filled in with putty and painted. Would work too, how well it would work is another question.

    All good :)

Google is the answer to most questions, if it's Commodore related you'll most likely be brought back here.

If Google does not give you a definitive answer, then folks around here will be more than willing to help.
