i have subs in my boot that are causing the parcel shelf to bounce up and vibrate on the rear window, which is really damn annoying. i had extra carpet folded up between the window and the shelf but that looked really ugly. anyone have ideas on to solve the problem?
I've tried stuffing foam up under the shelf from the boot but that doesn't work either. Perhaps a visit to Clark Rubber to get a rubber strip to sit between the shelf and the rear window. Hmmm I think I might just give that a go.
I have tried everything for this with no results the only way i can see is to cut the rear of it away but would look ugly
more fur-tree clips to hold it down and carpet underlay under neath to chock it up.... worked for mine but everything else in the car rattles so i dunno why i did it
Custom parcel shelf? its weird how some shelves rattle and some dont fortunatly mine doesnt..... mayb glue the ****er down with sikaflex hahaha?
i jst stuffed rags under mine, seemed to do the job, to bad the door locks rattle!!! and the speakers in the rear, and the numberplate, and the... , when i think about it the parcel shelf is the only thing that doesnt rattle now. cheers johnny
has ne1 tried just playin swaps with parcel shelves that dont rattle a go lol? mayb stupid question but mayb simple solution 2 hhaha?
changed mine to vy parcel shelf (somehow butchered old one cutting holes for 6x9s)it had a bit of extra foam my old one didnt. also layed down a bit more of that matting sh1t it comes with. duznt rattle at all anymore. mite just be luck but
also what are people using to hold their subs down? i'm just thinking of getting some brackets and bolting them into the spare tyre cover to hold the sub down.
i used some latches makes it easy enough 2 get taken out if u have 2 also u can wack on a padlock if ya wanna also but not necassary u could also make some brakets and screw them 2 the top of the parcel shelf then on the top of the box
speaking of sub boxes, anyone ever usesd a fibreglass moulded box? Do they produce a decent sound like MDF/Wood?
what worked for me was folding down 2 pillowcases into the crack. Got a charcoal pillow case and it worked a charm.... no more rattle. Its the worst noise ever though.. Sound deadener is always the best but I am pretty sure it can be pricey.... $3 pillowcases work
