Maybe he's just old and mistook the go pedal for the stop pedal. Happens often (more often than it should). If it was deliberate, he wouldn't bother getting out to look, he'd just leave after his plan was complete.

Wow, a Camira that was still driveable! I'm amazed! Last time I saw one (was in really good nick actually) was a year or 2 ago in Gosford. Haven't seen any since.
