Hi All I'm considering increasing the performance of my VE Berlina and I'm just after someone to run me through the process and to try and lend some experienced advice for modding an alloytech. Points I'm mainly after information on are; - What is the best path to take (naturally aspirated, turbocharged (twin or single) or supercharged) - In what order should the mods be done? - an explanation of the parts and their role, and how upgrading them will improve the performance eg: forged crank, pistons and such. I've had a look around and I couldn't find much just on the overall process of the mods but if I've missed it can someone show me where to look? Cheers
to be honest mate i dont think any1 has managed to re-tune a ve alloytech as of yet for supercharging. im not 100% sure about turbocharging tho, i may be wrong.
my build date is your VE mate? only dec 07 and earlier VE alloytecs can be tuned. To be honest i'd just get a air hammer CAI, pace maker extractors and a SV^/SS ve exhaust fitted. if your car is one that can be tuned then i'd get that as well.
She's an 07 make, but you think it's not really worth the hassle? Sorry i've got bugger all experience/knowledge, so upgrading the pistons, rods, heads, fuel pump or throtle body isn't worth the effort?
unless you want 300rwkw's plus i can't see the stock motor being much of an issue bar the fuel system mate.
I wouldn't mind it but I'm not going for that much power, but how much extra power would a bolt on charger give me anyway? So the stardard internals will survive some moderate boost then? So if a did charge it what exactly would require upgrading? Just the fuel delivery?
Sweet, so that just with that kit and an upgrade to the fuel system? What would I need to replace within the fuel delivery?
How much are you planning to spend, and have you considered trading in for a SS or V8 Calais? If you put forced induction on your Berlina you'll find it harder to sell down the track, and probably won't get as much money back in resale.
well im just exploring options at the moment... if it works out cheaper to head that way thats probably the way i'll go
from the kits i've seen generally you just need to replace the injectors. if pushing for a little more upgrading the fuel pump helps as well.
