My VZ ute has problems filling the petrol tank, it is supposed to hold 60ltrs and I can only get about 35ltrs into it

it says full even when it is not. any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Are you going by the gauge?
Or
Is it not allowing more fuel to go in at the bowser?

just need the gauge calibrated or the sender fixed/replaced by the sounds of it.

Not sure if VZ's have the same problem but VR ute's are a prick to fill up. From empty they will take about 35-40L no worries, but the last 25-30L it's a matter of trickle filling it. PITA when it takes 10-15mins to fill your tank.

I have no trouble completely filling mine with 35 litres from 'empty' and warning light.
I just keep wondering where the last 20+ litres in the tank are, and am I game enough to find out how far I can go on that 'missing' 20+ litres

I was told on my old bus I should get at least 40km once the gauge reads empty, no such luck, I've run out twice. I no longer chance it.

yes at the bowser
What happens if you trickle fill, with it cutting out 40-50 times, getting that last 25L in, does it fill right up to the top of the neck like it should?

if I spend a long time at the bowser I did fill it to 60ltrs a couple times but harder to do that now

It's sounding like an at least 26 year old problem that Holden never solved...... Seems to affect ute's and not sedans or wagons. Some say it the breather, but I replaced every hose on my tank except the biggest piece that joins the metal filler neck to the tank as that's not the restriction, as far as I can see. I'm not lying either when I say it takes me 10-15mins to fill my tank and the bastard cuts out at least 40 times. I find that old bowsers are better, where as the new more sensitive ones are right pricks.
