I know I am going to get paid out on by motorheads here, but my car wont start. A mechanic told me to hit the starter motor while the ignition is being turned on. If it starts, it needs a new starter motor. I have no idea where it is though. Can someone send me a pic of where it is? I know it is under the engine somewhere.

Thanks. I took some photos of what we think is the starter motor. Could you tell me if this is it or not? (ignore the spiderwebs lol)

Thats it mate. Its easier to get at from under the car, just remember not to get under there if the car is only supported by a jack.Always use axle or chassis stands.

I ended up getting it fixed quite cheap. It was the fuel pump. Apparently, letting the fuel run low is not good for them as the fuel cools the motor or something. Wont be letting it get that low again.

Not the first time I have heard this.
I almost religiously ( tight ass ) run my VT in the red on fumes for the last 3 years and have no issues with fuel pump.
