Ok so I finally got around to taking this out of my VT, and put it in my cv8.
Wired it all up and mounted nice, yet the head unit reads "incompatible USB" when I plug my new galaxy note 2 in, or the mrs htc oneXL.
Now the 4300 used to work on my old galaxy s2? wondering if anybody has had a similar problem or if it can be fixed with a software/firmware update on HU?
might be from losing the comms signal but i doubt it. its the standard male to female usb cable with a micro usb for my phone plugged into that.

HELP!! dont want to go and buy a hdd.
cheers

it depends if the device is read as a removable device - have you tried just a usb drive? I personally use a thumb drive with all my tunes and just leave it plugged in all the time.

Ditto for the USB thumb drive- pretty cheap these days. But for the phone, is it the usb setting? When you plug the thing in, there's an option on how it should be recognized. If that doesn't pop up, the galaxy phone will list it if you pull the menu down from the home screen. Tap on USB connection. I think it's the USB Mass Storage Device option you want. It might be set up to automatically go into "kies" setting when plugged into a USB.

When i had my USB stereo, i had to start the radio, change to radio to usb then change to this setting (android) on the phone

You have to treat the storage as a usb drive.

Then had to navigate to the music folder via the car stereo navigation

Took the advice of members and just put music on a flash drive.
Dont think its worth hacking into my phone os.
On the plus side though even though its an oldish unit, still looks great :)
