Yes, when the switch is "ON" it will allow the antenna to go up and down automatically when the stereo is on, when the swtich is "OFF" the antenna will retract and stay down untill you switch it back on.

I'm sick of my aerial always being up. (I got a pioneer H/U). What is the easiest way to disconnect it so I can reconnect it again one day if I want to?

Do I have to pull the pioneer head unit out? How do I do that?

Yeah, but it doesn't look like i can get my headunit out because I don't have the tools to remove it :(
