It's not a dumb request. A fire breathing V8 like Big Ass here isn't for everyone. Maybe you're a family guy and value a quiet car but have the need to mod a little so fair enough.

Point is if you're going to tune it you will need someone that has the runs to milk it for everything it's got and not leave you with extra issues. If it cost a bit more than some other places so be it in my experience lol

pay $900 to gain 3KW
or cheap out on the tuner and pay $600 to gain 2KW

That's not really a fair representation at all. Tuning a V6 is much like tuning a V8. You might not see the same peak power gains on a V6 like you will with the V8 but the overall driving experience with a properly tuned V6 is much better than the factory tune much like the V8's.
