I recently had the roof lining fixed but unfortunately it broke the rear window plastic trim.
I'm unable to find a genuine replacement in the same colour but i did find aftermarket ones on Ebay but they are not the correct colour.

How do i go about painting to match my trim colour?
The trim code is 23i i believe this is steel blue.

Try the wreckers & try for the actual colour?

I've painted trims but they have been black. I start with wax and grease remover, then plastic primer, primer and finish with enamel with hardener added. Come up pretty good and cheaper than spending $900 on a SH replacement. Probably get away with soapy water instead of prepsol.

Hi mate.
I'll call around tomorrow and see what's available.
what was preventing me from doing this was that i was worried that a second hand one will be brittle plastic and break like mine did
when i bend the trim into its slots it cracks in the middle when brittle.

I'm actually working on a piece at the moment. It takes a while to get them good.

It seems like it might be cheaper to just take it to a painter than buying all the stuff required for this project?

The only issue you might has is some trims have textured paint. At home I don't know if it's possible to get texture other than flat.

Possibly but probably looking at $100 to have it painted, if they can paint it and make it look original. If they can't they might say no.

I'm in way over my head here, i was hoping to simply get colour matched can and spray away.

Thanks for the help,
Ill call around tomorrow and try to find genuine part and call the panel beater and get a quote, ill try to avoid painting myself as much as possible, if no luck ill have no choice but to attempt myself.
