Ok well, the starting of this car is getting worse.
Even when warm it takes a bit more than a car should.
Was only when it's cold.
Have replaced the fuel pump, plugs and leads are 24,000k's old, battery is over a year old, fuel filter was changed 24,000k's ago.
Could it be a starter?
Or CAS?

Check for codes first off.

Check for spark,also check whether the spark is weak or strong. If there is no spark then look into the ignition side of things. CAS, coils, Dfi module,
Also wiggle the Dfi module plug while starting the car these are common problems on the commodore.

Check fuel pressure.

Does it crank over but does not fire or does it struggle to crank?

If it does not fire then do as i mentioned above.

If it struggles to crank then check the battery connections clean if necessary check the earthing to the chassis also inspect the thick power cable from battery to starter motor.
Check for voltage drop with a multi-merter should be under 0.05volts.
If theres is a voltage drop run a new cable from battery to starter.

What do you mean by "takes a bit more than a car should"?

When you turn the key to 'crank' does it take a while before the starter begins to work?
Once the starter turns over the motor, all is OK?

Yea, it cranks but takes a while to fire.
Done error codes a few weeks ago.
Had this problem for ages!
When cold and you hit the accelarator the car will lose revs then go up (only in first couple mins). Other than that car runs fine after starting.

Nope... Prob should look into that one...

Nah, just takes a while to fire.

Its nothing got to do with the battery because its cranking over. It is said that when cranking over a car the most current is consumed.
So load testing wont fix your problem.

You have to go through a process of elimination. Check for spark first were this is the easiest,Check for fuel pressure in the fuel rail.
than go from there. It could even be dirty or blocked injectors.

It's just started to get worse.
A while ago it would do the usual when cold but warm would start straight away.
How am I checking fuel pressure?
With spark, just remove lead and check lead for spark?
I remember when a mate was checking for a dead coil pack he got a good shock out of one of them...

You should buy a book on your car M8. Its pretty hard explaining everything online.
You will need to buy some tools first to check fuel pressure and a spark plug tester to test for weak spark.
