hey! So I'm new to owning a commodore. I have an 06 VZ auto.
While I was driving the other night something kinda snapped under my foot I guess? And the accelerator got pulled to the ground. It became looser but now the pedal is kinda just flapping about, if I put my foot down it accelerates but I have to put my foot underneath it to bring it back up. Spoke to a mechanic and he said it sounds like I need a new accelerator pedal assembly? Does this sound right? Is this something I can do myself? Sounds dumb but I just want this fixed asap.

Yeh. There is a spring in the pedal that sounds broken.

Get another from a wrecker or dealer and anyone on here will fit it. For free.

VX II Acclaim Wagon.
Sounds like the above ^^

Depends what your skills are as to whether you can do it.
At least mech sounds honest so far.

I had this same problem with the accelerator pedal in my 06 VZ Exec Wagon yesterday. Got another pedal from the wrecker and fitted it myself this evening. I now have a 'check powertrain' warning on the dash. Does anyone know what that could be about?

The car drives fine, and functions exactly as it should, just have the warning on the dash...

VZ Crewman, VZ Cross 8, & ya mum.
You will need to take the car in to the mechanic and have the throttle position re calibrated. That’s all. You’ll have some data not making sense to the cars computers.

Thanks Fu! I immediately noticed that it felt like the throttle was responding sooner as I was driving it tonight. Maybe the potentiometer has been rotated a bit by it's previous owner...
