Can anyone direct me to a thread with great explanation of how to make your own tb and plenum spacers, or someone post how to? Dont have the cash for mace spacers :( was thinking i could use some 12mm marine ply and a sealant on the inside to stop air flowing through the ply, using my plenum lid as a template. what sealant would be best, and applied inside or outside the ply. Cheers

If you really think itll make a difference..

Use 15/25 mm thick mdf and trace out the shape of the plenum onto the wood aswell as the bolt holes

After that, cut it out with a jigsaw and sand the edges neat

Drill out holes for the bolts to go

Next seal it up with some gasket goo and bolt the lid back on

Btw youll need longer bolts to compensate for the increased length

    Same process for the t/b

What would be the chances of the mdf seperating? And there should be nothing other than air coming into contact with the spacer should there? Is there any speacial sealant to use on the outer and inner edge to prevent leakage?

it "should" only be air, although if you open up the plenum you may notice a build up from oils and so forth.

if it were me id probably just try finding a hi temp clear.
but youll have to do a fair few coats because of how porous timber is. (on a toolbox i made i did about 5 or 6 coats with sanding in between to get a near perfect smooth finish)
or just try leaving it without any coatings.

also dont you mean a manifold spacer?
because wouldnt a throttle spacer do a "similar" thing as a plenum spacer?

    also for Plywood seperating.
if you mean under the "crushing force" from the bolts, it is rediculously unlikely.
ive swung liberal weights into a single point before and all it did was slightly dent, nothing major.

also if you manage to damage it in someway, such as a hammer dent or you drop it etc
grab your old ladies iron, and a damp rag.
put rag onto timber with hot iron on top.
remove and the dents should come out of most timbers.
