I don't think the Holden Ute was ever sold under the Pontiac brand. I believe it was planned but never actually eventuated other then demo models maybe?

I could be wrong though.

Being that your in SA, how can you own a Pontiac unless you're visiting US military and have a LHD Pontiac shipped down under during your deployment.

AIUI, no pontiac utes were ever made in RHD and sold down under.
I've no idea the numbers of Pontiac LHD utes built and sent to the USA.

People do buy Pontiac parts and retrofitted them to Holden utes but that's just like all those Holden sedans with Chevy badges on them... Usually it's just external badges that they put on and keep the holden in the middle of the steering wheel. That's because Pontiac airbags are expensive to buy and airfreight, different in inflated size than a Holden airbad so probably not complient down under, and did i say expensive...

Not a Pontiac. No Pontiac utes exported to the USA, even though it was planned.
Any LHD Pontiac utes, or LHD Holden utes, in the USA are made from imported wrecked Holden ute shells, and wrecked Pontiac G8 sedans.
It is a 2010 SSV Special Edition ute, using some left-over Pontiac bonnets and front guards. ..... oops, front bumpers.

They did 1500 in total of the body range so 500 of each all being manual. Were initially being done in red, black and blue if I remember correctly but then allowed other colours to be done

The plan was for Holden to export our ute to the USAa as a Pontiac G8 ST (Sports Truck) starting mid/late 2009 (as a 2010 model?). At least one pre production model was shipped to the US in 2008 to be shown off before mass production arrival. There were no plans for exporting a wagon to the USA.

Unfortunately the GM bankruptcy along with the death of the Pontiac brand and other GM mishandling put an end to the G8 ST export plans (and after the sale of Opel, ultimately to Holden itself).

As @figjam said, the baton was picked up by 3rd party coach builders within the USA who imported Holden utes bodies and used G8 sedans to Frankenstein a non factory G8 ST… There was a few coach builders and one build 16 examples.

Well that’s what I just read on the www so not sure what you mean by ”they did 1500 in total of the body range so 500 of each all being manual”. Who are “they“ and what exactly did they build; utes, sedans, wgons? when did ”they” export them?

It was released as a special edition by Holden in the MY10 range for a extra $1000 on top of the standard SSV. Still had holden badging on the rear

There seems to be a couple for sale in Tas at the moment. I don't like the look of them, they tend to be cheaper than the equivalent with a Holden front end, although some sellers are trying to use it as a selling point.
