Hi guys,

I think i may have a virus.my mcafe anti virus has run out and have no way of getting a new one for atleast a week or 2.

can anyone recomend a free decent anti virus?

now this is what i think is happening. I am noticing my pc is going slow as hell and i have opened task manager and it looks like this Twunk_32.exe* is taking up a lot of memory everytime i am on the net.

i think its a bit strange how theres twunk_32.exe* 32

the strange thing or coincedence is... while looking for a game forum i google searched it then opened one link in another tab and i got a message about this exact "twunk/twain" stuff.

could someone please advise on what to do?

i guess if worse comes to worse i can reinstall windows but thats a real big f a round :(

thanks!

Kaspersky is my favorite anti virus program. I like it because it has a low system resources impact.

Twunk_32.exe is generally a legitimate file, part of low level COM+. Now this could be a clever ploy at mimicking, but if you're not noticing errant behaviour on your PC it probably isn't.

Personally I think AVG and AVAST! are bloated rubbish these days and use MSE myself (only talking freeware). Who knows the OS better than the folk who wrote it. I also run Malwarebytes scans on a semi regular basis. I'd do both those things in your current position to be sure.

Lastly, is your account an administrator account? This is often a problem as when malware has a go at the system, it has all the access in the world to do major damage. Malware has a much harder time making global impacts that result in a reinstall of Windows when it's a user account.
