I see you made custom speaker plates for the doors, i modded the original plastic holders to accept the 6.5" response speakers, but it did cross my mind to do what you did, i was in effing hurry to get it all fitted in one weekend! I definately need dynamat on my doors and boot :/

Haha maybe, but i'm talking the service hole is about half the door, plus it's the only hole too. With it sealed, i have no access to the speaker wiring if something goes a miss.

Plastic is not very good as a speaker baffle. The mdf ones i made were a very rush job, even the cut outs were just done with a jigsaw. Though i've probably cut at least a hundred circular holes by now, so i'm usually surprised at how clean they come out. The most time consuming part was drilling into the door and bolting the baffle to it.

just finished this on sat, have replaced the back seat of my crewman with a fiberglass box.
im running 4 12" clarion subs, they are quite tidy sounding things only needin 1cu' each an they are 300w rms wired in a serries and parralell circut to give a 4ohm load, they are powered buy an alpine mono block producin 1200w rms at 4 ohm, then in the back box above the subs ( internally seperated box) are 2 pairs of soundstream 6 inch splits running off an alpine 4ch amp (150rms per channel) fusion componients in the back doors and fusion splits up the front in the factory positions, at the mo these are running off the head deck (pretty much cant hear em now) but i have under the pasenger seat a 4ch jvc amp to run them once i get round to running new wires to the factory locations. all running of a sony head deck, it has turned out to be more of a sq build rather than a window smasher, although still very loud, ya cant sit in the car with the volume over 20 (it goes to 52) but it has a nice clear well rounded sound even at high volume.

cant upload pics off my phone but i will do when im next on a computer

Sounds like it would be more of an spl app than a sq. Cant wait for some pics but to me clarion jvc and fusion wouldnt be anything close to sq but not being offensive or anything :) cant wait to see pics

jvc and fusion both not hooked up yet( well fusion is but cant hear it un amped) and i must say i am very impressed with these clarions, did not expect it, at all, and yea i'm pretty sure ill be replacin the fusions for somethin a lil nicer up front, this build kinda streched the budget so gotta work a bit more before it gets finished

here's some pics, the finish is pretty rough, it was my first attempt at fiberglass and basically i got the shits with sanding it an i just wanted to hear it so i gave it a quick spray an threw it in, in a couple of weeks when im interested again ill pull it out and trim around it an re finish it, thinkin of like a purple candy paint over a gloss black for the finish paint, not sure yet

I have no doubt that it sounds good just meaning like in terms of sound quality being like a good set of focals and stuff like that then it isn't a sq setup :)

And wow that looks crazy haha any vids of it? much flex? looks like it would flex the old car a bit. :) I love DIY work so great work

oh yea i got ya, i dunno about that techo stuff lol, what i ment was i thought it would be a rough loud but its turned out to be a very clean loud, no flex in the box, that son' bitch is solid as hell (first attempt at fg so i used a lil much) but yea the windows fair pop, havnt got any vids cause ive never had it overly loud, the folks next door kinda hate us already so cant crank it unless im drivin an then my ears bleed lol will try an get some soon though

iv got a sony XAV601bt enroute to install, aswell as a steering wheel adaptor to keep my steering wheel controls.
im not too keen on getting a ridiculous sub and amp, but what's a good recommended speaker to replace my factory speakers? brand, size etc, to give a nice sound without waking up the whole town with doof doof doof doof.

I drive a 2005 holden VZ storm ute, all the audio is factory and the sony XAV is yet to be installed

    thanks :D
