So far, so good. Idles at 24C in ambient of 18. Havent run any major stress tests on it but did a couple hours video conversions with it at maybe 80% cpu usage and it pushed it up to 45C. Its only intended as a HTPC anyway. I had considered putting a GPU into it until the breadbox actually arrived and I realised the roll top rolls down the back as well so there is only about 60mm clearance from the roll top to the base at the back. This meant I could have the mobo go right through to the back ok, but the PSU wont, and a GPU wouldnt. The i3 3225 that is in it at the moment is I think the only i3 with HD4000 graphics, so it doesnt really need a GPU anyway for HTPC duty. I'll have a go at warming the thing up properly today and see how hot I can get it, but for all intended purposes it would seem to be fine for the job so far, and very quiet considering its the stock cooler. Summer might be a different story though of course.. Its all a bit of a cobble job, from existing stuff I had lying around. If I had a decent SFX PSU I probably would have used that instead for now, but in the end I will probably ditch this PSU in favour of a pico given the low power demands, and stick a 140mm fan in the back in place of the PSU hole.
heheh love the bread box idea.. should try incorporate the monitor into some other box aswell full steath install

Who needs that many HDDs? and what made you go with WD Reds? Aren't they the 24/7 slow grade CCTV recording spec drives?
I'm sure most people dont 'need' that many. Its basically enough space to have a backup or all my stuff on my main PC (about 50%, so room for more afterwards.) 50LTRv8 got it, they're server quality, which means they are perfect for RAID. Not that i've had a problem with my Samsungs, but i dont want to take the risk with so much data (especially since i'm over 50% of my capacity in my main PC, meaning not everything is backed up atm, if i was to have a failure right now)
Got myself a HP pavilion DV6. Has a I7 quad core CPU (1.60GHz) 6GB RAM (soon to be 8GB) 120GB SSD - Not sure if I should replace the cddrive with a bigger HDD for personal programs + files, or just use an external. 1GB dedicated graphics card Bought it for $300, cheerin'

So finally built this, after being sick for about 2 weeks (and most of the extra parts being at work). Worked first time, great success! Just waiting on the server case for the WD reds and it'll be ready to go

After waiting for the R290X and seeing how it runs and acts as a heater, then umming and ahhing over waiting for aftermarket cards, I finally decided on a video card. Z87 Fatal1ty Intel 4770k EVGA Geforce GTX780TI Superclocked Edition 16GB G.Skill Trident Ram NZXT Kraken X60 Watercooling NZXT Phantom 530 Black Antec 750w Modular PSU So as I mentioned earlier, the case, is fantastic. tons of room, tons of cable management stuff. This video card, OMFG. For a reference card. This is pretty. The GEFORCE GTX logo down the side is customizable in the way it flashes or lights up.
Yeah the 290X is a massive let down IMO, might shine under water but they should have done better with the stock cooler. Loud or hot. Pick one, max! Not both If the green logo bugs you I did a write up on changing it over on oc.n a while ago it's quite straightforward to change it to white at least.
