I'm running a Commodore 64 with duel external 5.25" floppy drives and a dot matrix printer... Is that good?
Yeah I just couldnt wait for a card anymore. Games were coming out, times a wasting. I cannot believe AMD have waiting so long to allow people to release aftermarket coolers. I shouldve waited 2 weeks for 780Ti aftermarkets. But for a reference card, this is fantastic. Runs at about 70 degrees with max graphics on Assassins Creed (thats with 40% silent fan speed).
How's Win8 treating you Grennan? IMO very handy for searching and shortcuts once you know what you're doing. Just needs a bit more customisation
Just got mine on Monday. Was surprised how big the case was. MSI Z87 GD65 Intel i5 4670k XFX Radeon R9 290 16GB G.Skill Trident Ram Silverstone Strider 750w Windows 7 Ultimate 250GB Samsung Evo SSD 4TB WD Green NZXT Phantom 630 ASUS MX299 Razer Blackwidow Razer Taipan Will be repracing the R9 290 with an aftermarket GTX780 TI early next year. I can stand the 290's fan noise but it gets way too hot. Will also be getting an ASUS Xonar Essence STX, I thought the Audio Boost on the MSI motherboard was going to be good but what a let down.
Im using Classic Shell. It pretty much turns the desktop back to normal. Then you can go back to using the app page through the start page. I quite like it that way. I couldnt use 8 or 8.1 without it. ####ing randomly in the middle of games the app page would come up. Dunno how I did it.
Pic with 1 of the 290x & EK blocks, Pickup second 290x for this rig tomorrow already have another block.
Nice setup you have there HoZy. Just bought and installed my Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 4GB today. First time installing a GPU and it turned out well.
I like the black and red sleeved GPU power cabling twisted around each other. I might use that one day I've twisted them before to keep them neat, but always done both the same colour.
BenQ XL2411T monitor, Krix Equinox speakers (powered by that tiny but surprisingly beefy t-amp) Corsair 500R, i7 2600k @ 4ghz, Z68X motherboard, 8gb of HyperX, 2 x EVGA GTX 680, Asus Xonar DX, Silverstone "Strider Plus" 1000w PSU, a SSD (for caching) and some HDDs, the usual stuff.
So I got a few new things for my setup such as a Dell 27" IPS monitor, Behringer Truth speakers, Nuforce DAC/Amp and Razer Ouroboros mouse. Another 290, Seasonic Platinum 1000 and full XSPC watercooling.
Nice rig man, here's a couple of quick pics of my own, just because... a GPU upgrade and a 27" monitor are next. Quick specs: FX-8350 NH-D14 Crosshair V Formula Z 12GB Corsair Dominator GT HD6950 (6970 BIOS) 240GB SanDisk Extreme SSD / 1TB WD Black / 2TB WD Green Lian Li PC-P50R
haha, yeah I'm not real savvy on that either and I feel like maybe I should be.. I'll upgrade to whatever comes up at the right price. Been using GTX 770s lately and they are seriously nice pieces of hardware for the money, but a 780 would be nice I'm in no hurry so I'll just wait and see what pops up 2nd hand.
Thought you might've been going for a Titan Black haha 770s in SLI? I kinda wish I got a 780 instead of a 290 but didn't know any better at the time. They still run hot even watercooled, especially Vram 1.
I don't game as much as I used to, and when I do it's only 1920x1080 at the moment. A single GTX770 will do me fine - any more is really a bit of a waste. If I move to a 2560 monitor at any point I'll look at pushing further, we'll see
I say go for the 2560 monitor and upgrade True. People still buy them for 4k and 1440p or 1600p surround though.
This is my new rig: Quick specs: i7 4770k Corsair H105 CPU cooler ASUS Hero VI board ADATA XPG V1 16GB RAM GTX 780 Ti OC edition Seasonic X850 Samsung 256GB SSD Primary WD Black edition 1TB Secondary Monitor is a Dell U2713HM (27" of glory) I'm still getting used to windows 8.1 but it's growing on me.
