Little update to my main machine - moved from an AMD Piledriver combo to a 4820K.

Bunch of random other systems I've built if anyone's bored and wants a look: www.facebook.com/OCDesktops

Looking at maybe upgrading, but at the moment:

i5-2500k at 4.5Ghz
Asrock Z68-Pro3
8GB 1600 G-Skill RAM
Gigabyte R9-280X
Silverstone 600w PSU
Samsung 840 EVO 240GB, Intel 120GB SSD, and a couple of older 2TB platter drives
Just upgraded an old solid Aluminum case to the Fractal R5, and changed the coolers to a DeepCool Maelstrom 240 for the CPU, have 2 Noctua 140mm for the front, 3 Fractal R2 140mm fans for the bottom and back. And a NZXT Grid+ keeping the fans in check.
Took ages to get the wiring setup.

Hi all this is my rig that I recently build my self, kept my old GPU, SSD and HDD and spent 1.4k on upgrading everything else
It has the following:

Intel core i5 6600k OC'd to 4.3Gz
ASUS Z170-P Motherboard
16Gb of Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 Memory (2x8)
Corsair H55 CPU cooler
Corsair 650M 80 plus gold PSU (should have got a fully modular one :/ )
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered glass edition
Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 gaming
WD 2tb HDD
Samsung 650 EVO 120Gb SSD

Peripherals:
LG 24" IPS LED display
LG 22" LED display that will be getting replaced soon
Gigabyte M6900 mouse
Razer Deathstalker keyboard

Super happy with it, looks epic and runs like you wouldn't imagine, super quiet but with all the horsepower required for literally anything!
I also just got NBN so that helps the experience too
I use it for everyday use and long gaming sessions

PC:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU: EVGA RTX 3070
RAM: Corsair DDR4 64GB
Case: Custom PowerMac G5 with LaserHive mATX conversion (Cut and modded the case myself, SSD's sit in a DVD drive tray made for holding SSD's, PSU sits up where the HDD's normally would in a G5 with an IEC extension running down to the original PSU port)
PSU: Corsair RM850X
AIO: DeepCool Castle 240EX White mounted using the laser hive bracket behind the front of the case (Push, Pull config, Air comes in the front and is pushed out the back)
Storage: All SSD setup, 1TB & 500GB M.2 NVME SSD's, 500GB Game drive, 120GB Linux drive
Mobo: Gigabyte B550M AORUS PRO AX
OS: Windows 11 Pro & Debian 11 Bullseye

Peripherals:
Monitor 1: BenQ Zowie 2740 27' 240hz
Monitor 2: Samsung U28E590 4k 28' 60Hz
Monitor 3: Acer 24' 140Hz
Keyboard: Corsair K70 TKL Champion
Mouse: Logitech G502 Lightspeed Wireless
Headset: Logitech G433

Case was not easy or cheap to do, Finding a G5 in NSW is not easy, I got lucky a few years back finding a 1.6Ghz Single G5 so not loss cutting up a rare or high end G5. Cutting the G5 is really the hardest part, One f***k up and the case is done because the backplate need's the back of the case to be cut perfectly or it will have nothing to screw into and you are way to far to put the G5 parts back. Total cost including the G5 and parts from the UK to mod the case was around $500 AUD, Looks amazing in the end and I have had a few configs in this case. My Setup is perfect as it is, I don't need anything more and this is the most bulletproof PC I've used, Had some BSOD's when first built but once they were smoothed out the PC has not crashed since and has been left on for months at a time before.

Not a gaming desktop, but a work laptop set up for intense 3D cad work and finite element and other numerical modelling, both 2D and 3D. As a side trick it also rips it up with gaming too :). The entire lot is a tax deduction through my company. Bonus! I purchased it in August 2021 when prices were sky high. I needed a decent setup so was sort of stuck between a rock and hard place.

Laptop: Dell 7760 Precision 17" mobile workstation (~$10k)
  • Xeon W-11955M (24MB Cache, 8 Cores, 2.60GHz - 5.00GHz, 45W)
  • 128 GB 3200MHz ECC
  • RTX A5000 16GB GDDR6
  • 2 x 500 GB SSD
  • 17.3" IPS UHD, 3840 x 2160, 120Hz screen
Peripherals:
  • Dell thunderbolt dock
  • 3 x 27" HP EliteDisplay E273Q monitors, 2560 x 1440, 60Hz
  • JBL Professional studio monitor speakers
